Longstanding Service Honoured

Two long-standing volunteers will be honoured at this year’s Royal County of Berkshire Show for their active roles in putting on the Newbury & District Agricultural Society’s annual agricultural show. Cecil Brown and Dr Paul Sievers will receive the Society’s Award of Merit at the President’s Lunch on Saturday 21st September.

Cecil Brown served as a member of the Council for 52 years, before retiring at this year’s AGM. He started ‘helping out’ as a Cattle steward and Cecil still regularly visits the Show Office to lend a hand in the hectic weeks before the Society’s major Shows.

Dr Paul Sievers masterminded organising the doctors at the Show for many years and on a number of different Showgrounds. Paul retired earlier this year both from his day job at a Newbury practice and his voluntary role for the Society.
