Centenary
The Society recognised its Centenary in 2009
The Society staged its first show in 1909 at Enborne Gate Farm, Newbury. There were three breaks in the 20th Century when no show took place. Between 1914 and 1918 during First World War, between 1928 to 1935 during the farming depression and again during the Second World War 1939 to 1945. Since then the Show has grown to become one of the leading agricultural shows in the country. In 2009 a number of events will take place to celebrate 100 years of the Society.
We startedt the year with a new logo. It represents the Society’s roots in agriculture and the countryside. The colours represent the location of the Showground close to the West Berkshire Downs; purple is colour of The Royal County; gold for the centenary; blue for water and the colour of Berkshire and green the countryside.
We have also added a special centenary tie to our goods. The tie costs £25.00 (postage and packing where applicable is £2.00)
